Yogyakarta, Indonesia — November 2026 — Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is set to host an international keynote lecture featuring visiting professors and guest lecturers from the United Kingdom and Vietnam as part of an academic exchange and collaboration programme on stroke care, brain health, and digital innovation.
The programme, scheduled for Monday, 9 November 2026, will bring together international experts and members of the UGM academic community to explore advances in stroke care and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in health systems.
The visit will feature Prof. Huan X. Nguyen, Prof. Arjune Sen, and Dr. Cong Minh Tran, who are scheduled to participate in a series of academic and institutional activities in Indonesia and Vietnam.
Exploring Stroke Care and AI-Enabled Digital Twins
The keynote lecture at UGM will open with remarks by Prof. Yodi Mahendradhata, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada. The programme will also include an introduction to the network by Prof. Huan X. Nguyen and Dr. Lutfan Lazuardi.
The first guest lecture, titled “Transforming Post-Stroke Care: Lessons from the UK and Vietnam,” will be delivered by Prof. Arjune Sen and Dr. Cong Minh Tran, with Prof. Pinzon serving as moderator.
The session will provide an opportunity to share perspectives on post-stroke care and explore lessons from the United Kingdom and Vietnam that may contribute to ongoing discussions on stroke care improvement.
The second guest lecture, “AI-Enabled Digital Twins for Smart Ergonomics and Workplace Health,” will be delivered by Prof. Huan X. Nguyen and Dr. Ahmad Watsiq Maula, moderated by Anis Fuad, DEA.
The lecture will highlight the application of AI-enabled digital twins in the context of ergonomics and workplace health, bringing together perspectives from digital innovation and health systems research.
Both sessions will include question-and-answer segments, providing opportunities for participants to engage with the speakers and discuss the implications of these emerging approaches.
Strengthening Academic and Institutional Partnerships
Following the keynote programme, the visiting professors and guest lecturers are scheduled to participate in lunch networking with faculty members and a visit to UGM Academic Hospital.
The hospital visit will include plans for a Living Lab launching, supporting the development of opportunities for collaboration between academic institutions and healthcare settings.
The broader Indonesia–Vietnam visit programme also includes academic lectures for students at Vietnam National University (VNU), a visit to VNU Hospital, and a networking meeting with the Bach Mai team in Hanoi.
In Indonesia, the programme is scheduled to continue with visits to Dr. Sardjito Hospital, Bethesda Hospital or Stroke School STIKES Bethesda, and the National Brain Center Hospital. These activities are intended to facilitate academic exchange and engagement with clinical and research partners in stroke care and brain health.
Through these activities, UGM and its international partners seek to strengthen collaboration in education, research, and digital innovation, contributing to the development of intelligent health systems and improved approaches to stroke care.
About the Visit
The tentative Indonesia–Vietnam visit programme is scheduled for 6–11 November 2026 and involves visiting professors and guest lecturers from the UK and Vietnam. The UGM keynote lecture is planned for 9 November 2026, with the detailed programme and participation arrangements subject to confirmation.
